Day 74
I came back to trying to work out why the whole sorry situation had begun. It all started a few months back, everything was fine, and the penguins were happy waddling away outside. I was happy working away here in my igloo. Then came the helicopter. Black and sleek it made no noise as it swooped over the horizon. The company logo gleamed on the side. Ropes were thrown over the side and a man in the standard black suit came out and abseiled down into the middle of the penguins. He was not here to see me as I expected, but them. He carried with him a wooden box, about the size of a telephone and answering machine combo. The chopper flew off silently, without ever touching the ground. The company man led one of the penguins away, out of sight of my igloo window. When he came back he was boxless. Right on time the helicopter came back and whisked him away. It was just after this event that I began to feel the undercurrents of unrest.
